The president of Minnesota Farm Bureau says the sanctity of food labels must be protected.

With divisiveness over GMO labeling, Kevin Paap tells Brownfield the label has to have information on it that consumers need.

“Whether you’re allergic to something, whether it’s nutrition. Those things need to be on the label (and) they need to be science-based.”

Farm Bureau supports a national uniform science-based labeling program.

“What we do not want is a fifty state patchwork, where you’re required to have a different label or different things on a label in one state and not another.”

Paap says labels are for facts about food, not a place to do marketing.
