The House has decided to hold-off on reconsidering Trade Adjustment Assistance (TAA) for a while.

On a 236 to 189 vote, representatives passed a rule extending the window for a vote on reconsidering TAA to as late as July 30.

This gives lawmakers six weeks to try to work something out and get the Trade Promotion Authority bill to the president before the August recess.

Last Friday the House soundly defeated TAA but then passed Trade Promotion Authority putting the fate of the entire package in doubt.

House Speaker John Boehner moved to reconsider TAA at the end of the session; that is the vote that has been delayed.
