Indiana Sen. Joe Donnelly says he’s disappointed with EPA’s final ruling on the Clean Water Rule (formerly Waters of the U.S.).

“This process has been a mess from the start,” he says. “Indiana farmers are frustrated and so am I. I wish it had been done a different way. We’re still gathering all the information form what has been given to us.”

Donnelly says the new rules being put into effect will not change anything on farms, according to EPA officials.

“We were told by administrator McCarthy, by the EPA that as we move forward and see the results of this, it would not make agriculture’s life any more difficult,” he says. “I’m going to hold their feet to the fire and make sure that’s exactly what happens here.”

Donnelly says he is currently reviewing the 900 page document, which includes the rule and all EPA supporting documents to explain the rule.
