The U.S. House has passed the Trade Promotion Authority (TPA) bill without Trade Adjustment Authority (TAA) and Chandler Ghoule, with the National Farmers Union, says NFU is disappointed.

“The House voted correctly the first time. They voted TAA down, which they should have, and with what happened with TPA, you have to have both of ‘em.”

He says most Americans don’t understand what TAA is.

“They don’t know that Trade Adjustment Authority is basically an insurance program so that there is money made available to Americans who we know are going to lose jobs because of the Trans-Pacific Partnership.”

NFU says the House used a procedural “end-around” to move TPA forward and that it will continue to fight Trade Promotion Authority.
