This year the annual crops and weeds field day will be held at Montana State University's Post Research Farm, six miles west of Bozeman, on Tuesday, July 21 from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.

This is an opportunity for pest control advisors, farm managers, chemical company cooperators, students, and the general public to learn about ongoing crop and weed research programs at MSU. Research and demonstration plots of weed and pathogen management techniques, pesticide application strategies, cropping systems, pulse crop production, and wheat breeding will be open throughout the day with staff available to answer questions.

Speakers will include Phil Bruckner, on winter wheat breeding; Emily Glunk of forage production; Emily Lockard on feeding hail damage crops to livestock; Kevin Wanner on beneficial insects; Mary Burrows on disease management; Perry Miller and Clain Jones on cropping systems and nutrient management; and Fabian Menalled, Ed Davis, and Noelle Orloff on weed management.

Attendees can receive six and a half (6.5) Certified Crop Adviser CEU credits, three (3) private applicator recertification credits, and two (2) recertification credits for Montana commercial and governmental applicators holding licenses in the dealer, demonstration & research and agriculture plant pest categories.
