MATTAWA, Wash.—A Mattawa man died April 11 in a farm tractor accident about nine miles southeast of Mattawa, according to the Grant County Sheriff’s Office.
Daniel Martinez-Cortez, 57, was driving an Evans Fruit Co.-owned Ford farm tractor towing a spray trailer south in the 30,000 block of Road O Southwest, the sheriff’s office said.
About 3:30 p.m. the tractor left the west side the road, Martinez-Cortez apparently overcorrected his steering, causing the tractor to roll, according to the sheriff’s office. Martinez-Cortez was ejected from the open cab and the tractor landed on top of him, the office said. He died at the scene, and the state Department of Labor & Industries is investigating, the sheriff’s office said.
