Agri-Trend Inc. has named Tim Eyrich as the director of business development of its new Agri-Knowledge Division, which is dedicated to improving knowledge transfer between the scientific community, industry and growers.

The launch of Agri-Knowledge completes Agri-Trend’s full-service model, making it the only company to provide growers with agricultural coaching, knowledge transfer and a farm-data platform in one complete system. Agri-Trend Inc. is an independent agricultural coaching company that works with more than 2,000 farms in North America.

In his new role, Eyrich will enhance Agri-Trend’s training, research and grower support services as well as facilitate technology integration from industry to farm level.

“What’s needed is a strong conduit to bring science down to the common denominator, the farmer,” said Eyrich, former senior manager of product development for plant nutrition and yield enhancement at WinField Solutions, a division of Land o’ Lakes, the second largest agricultural co-operative in the U.S. “The other issue is that the science around farming has been compartmentalized—soils, moisture, plant physiology, insects—and very few people can put the components together and help the farmer make it work.”

With today’s advances in seed genetics, growers cannot afford to think in silos.

“The genetics now are incredible,” Eyrich said. “They’ll help you perform so much better if you do understand how the whole system works together, and punish you so much more if you don’t.”
