MEDFORD, Ore.—The battle against GMOs in Oregon is now moving on to labeling.

Using the momentum of the GMO measure here in Jackson County the group “Oregon Right to Know” started gathering signatures in Medford Tuesday night.

They want to get a statewide GMO labeling measure on the November ballot and say Oregonians have a right to know what they are eating.

The group anticipates push back from grocery stores.

“They know that people don’t want to eat GMOs. They know that it’s going to be detrimental to their business if it’s labeled and they know they are going to have to shift away from using GMOs,” said Karen Swift with Oregon Right to Know.

The group needs more than 87,000 signatures by July 3 to get the initiative on the November ballot.
