The International Service for the Acquisition of Agri-Biotech Applications (ISAAA), says a record 18 million growers in 27 countries are growing biotech crops on 433 million acres.
In its annual Global Status of Commercialized Biotech/GM Crops report, the group says in the 18 years of biotech crop commercialization, we have seen growth every year including double-digit growth in 12 of those years.
The U.S. remains the top biotech crop country with 173 million acres. Brazil had the biggest increase in acreage for the fifth consecutive year. Argentina, India and Canada round-out the top-five biotech growers.
