Let me introduce myself to readers of Sugar Producer.

My name is Allen Thayer. Although I'm new to magazines, I have long experience in daily, bi-weekly and weekly newspapers having worked in several cities and towns in Wyoming. These have included Cheyenne, Torrington, Douglas and Evanston. I've also worked at the Rapid City, S.D., Journal.

Positions have included news editor, copy desk editor, sports editor, reporter, columnist and more. Now I bring that experience to Harris Publishing, Inc. I'm also the Western Turf editor.

As I get acclimated to providing news of relevance to sugarbeet growers, please let me know any comments you want to share. Send them to allen@sugarproducer.com.

Although I'm new to Sugar Producer, I'm not new to Idaho Falls, Idaho, having lived here previously after graduating with a master's degree from Washington State University. My parents and sister reside here, so it's a happy homecoming.

Idaho is not so much different from Wyoming, and I know there are a healthy number of Denver Broncos fans here. Everyone's a fan of Peyton Manning. Right?

There are a lot of happenings in the sugar industry as always. Sugar Producer will continue to strive to deliver the very latest from all aspects of the business, including hearing from you - the growers. I look forward to meeting with you as I proceed in my new role.
