News From the Sugar Journal: Oil Spill
"It has been over 30 days since the Deepwater Horizon explosion and the crude oil is still spilling into the Gulf of Mexico at a rate no one is sure of. Oil is reaching our delicate marsh and wetland areas of Louisiana and will kill plant, seafood and animal life there.
BP, which is primarily responsible for the spill, continues to try to plug the well hole a mile under the water surface, but they are not certain that any of their temporary techniques will work.
The permanent fix consists of relief wells currently being drilled, but they won't stop the oil flow until sometime in August."
