Seed Systems based in Gilroy, CA, said it would relocate the Colorado portion of its sugarbeet seed-coating business from Longmont to Fargo, ND.

Mark Hughes, general manager, said when the group acquired the ETS seed-coating technology, officials realized it offered an opportunity improve its business position.

Benefits of the technology have been demonstrated at the Gilroy and Tangent locations. The company intends to implement the system at Fargo.

“The sugarbeet industry has experienced considerable economic pressure in recent years, and it is important that Seed Systems responds to changes in market demand,” Hughes said.

The closure of the Longmont site will take place this summer with some of the plant’s equipment relocated to Fargo to support expansion of that site.

Seed Systems and ETS are part of the UK-based Germain’s Technology Group, the world’s largest independent seed-enhancement and coating company.
