Potato Seed Stocks Book Ready

Dr. Edward D. Jones, professor emeritus of plant pathology at Cornell University in Ithaca, NY, has published the book, "The Uihlein Farm of Cornell University and Development of Potato Seed Stocks by Tissue Culture."

The book has a history of Cornell's Uihlein Farm at Lake Placid and the formulas and procedures used in creating rootstocks by tissue culture.

Jones served as extension plant pathologist at Cornell for more than 30 years. He was responsible for the New York State foundation/certified seed-potato program and the development of the Uihlein Farm.

Jones was also a career-long member of the Potato Association of America and chaired the Potato Certification Committee that developed standards for the first National Seed Potato Grade enacted into law in 1972.
