First official meeting of the new Southern Idaho Potato Cooperative will be Wednesday at 3:15 p.m. at the WestCoast Hotel in Pocatello, ID.

It will be held in conjunction with the annual Potato Growers of Idaho meeting.

This will provide the first opportunity for all process growers to meet and discuss the co-op which will take over from PGI's contract negotiations of the past 39 years.

It will provide growers the an opportunity to discuss changes in contracts. Recent years have seen progressively lower contract prices and contract language that has not been in the growers' best interest.

Many growers say they won't be able to remain in business with ever-increasing costs if contract values don't improve.

The SIPC was formed last summer, organized with the western Idaho growers' co-op.
