Red River Valley potato growers in the East Grand Forks, Grand Forks and Thompson areas are struggling with excessive rain that has plagued the area in the last few weeks.

According to Kristin Larson, communications director of the Red River Valley Potato Growers Association, those areas have been "severely hurt with excess water." The report came from Duane Preston, extension agent.

On the other hand, Clay County, another large producing region, is dry, badly in need of rain.

Walsh County's production is progressing well but has been hit by flea beetle damage.

However, there have been no signs of blight as growers start digging and vine killing.
