>Ireland's Dept. of Agriculture has announced grants of $1.3 million under the government's national government plan for 38 potato projects.

The grants are intended to help improve the storage and marketing infrastructure of the potato sector by providing assistance for capital investments in buildings and marketing equipment.

Agriculture Minister Noel Davern said total spending on the projects was about $3.7 million. Additional grants could be made later in the year after progress on existing projects is evaluated.
