Brassica growers in Australia have joined potato and pea producers in seeking higher prices for contract crops.

After obtaining the first increase in the McCain Foods potato contract in 10 years, growers are focusing on Simplot. The international company is now facing widening demands from suppliers for better payments.

Grower group chairman Glenn Connors said the Simplot offer didn't cover the rising cost of production and the company would have to increase its offer.
