John Thompson, who has served for about two years as the director of communications for the Potato Growers of Idaho, submitted his resignation June 12.
Thompson will accept a position from the Idaho Farm Bureau and will no longer be working for PGI after June 22.
Thompson said the uncertainty surrounding the future organizational structure of PGI, coupled with an offer from the Farm Bureau that was hard to walk away from, were factors in his decision.
Thompson said he was appreciative of the opportunity of working for the real leaders of the Idaho potato industry. He thanked them for all he learned from them. ".but I have also learned a lot about honor, dignity, honesty and the realities of agribusiness," he explained in a short memo to the PGI Board.
