The filing for bankruptcy by Arkoosh Produce Inc. of Gooding, ID, has jeopardized the future of half a dozen Idaho potato growers.

A group of unsecured creditors listed in the bankruptcy filing represented by Craig Christensen, a Pocatello, ID, attorney, is seeking industry and state support to avoid foreclosure sales.

A committee of seven, including six growers and one supplier, have formed the unsecured creditors committee. They invite other growers/suppliers who have not been paid for potatoes/supplies delivered to the packing plant to join with them.

Mark Thiel of Idaho Falls, ID, is spokesman for the group. He says there will definitely be six farm sales and as many as 10-12 if financial help cannot be obtained.
