Canadian Potato Income Rises

Ag-Canada reports that potato-related farm cash receipts rose 16 percent last year with increases in all provinces except Saskatchewan.

Prince Edward Island topped the list with C$195 million. Manitoba returns rose 15 percent to C$121 million. Alberta's increased 20 percent to C$40 million. Saskatchewan income fell 20 percent to C$27 million.

Exports of frozen fries rose 18.5 percent to 573,400 tons and their value increased 23 percent to C$566 million. Combined exports of table and seed potatoes fell 11 percent to 554,400 tons.
