An estimated 6,000 buyers from more than 100 countries got a "taste of Washington," at the U.S. Food Export Showcase in Chicago, IL, May 7-9.

According to the Washington State Potato Commission, the three-day event was projected to generate in excess of $61 million for organizations and companies who participated.

Sponsored by the National Association of State Departments of Agriculture, the event was held in conjunction with the Food Marketing Institute Supermarket Convention-the world's largest food-marketing show.

At the show the WSPC featured its new Chinese and Spanish language dehydrated potato brochures with information for international buyers on dehydrated potatoes and where to purchase them in Washington.

Washington is the most trade-dependent state in the U.S. potato industry, with about 35 percent of its frozen and dehydrated products being exported.
