Frito-Lay has selected Thailand as the regional headquarters for its new Asia-Pacific division.

Restructuring operations in Singapore and China led to the new division. The Singapore office had handled joint ventures of Frito-Lay in Japan and Taiwan while the office in China was responsible for Frito-Lay's wholly owned operations.

The regional office will oversee operations in China, India, Indonesia, Japan, Singapore, South Korea, Taiwan, and Thailand.

The Singapore and Chinese units will now only handle manufacturing and engineering.

Timothy Minges was named president of Frito-Lay Asia Pacific. He was previously president of operations in China.

Some 4,000 growers in Thailand, under contract to Frito-Lay, produced 30,000 tons of potatoes last year.
