Novartis Crop Protection Inc., is excited about a new active ingredient for an insecticide that offers broad-scale control for seed treatments and crops.

In extensive testing over five years, thiamethoxam has shown excellent control on a wide variety of sucking and chewing pests, including thrips, aphids, Colorado potato beetle, leafhoppers and wireworm among others.

It offers a very low usage rate. Registration is currently pending with the first registration for seed treatment expected by year-end.

Products will carry the names Actara and Platinum for insecticides, and Adage and Helix for seed treatments on a number of crops.
