Aphistar, a potent new aphicide, is now available to help avoid crop damage caused by root aphids in sugarbeets.

Rohm and Haas Company made the announcement in August, adding that the Section 18 EPA Emergency Exemption label is only for use on crops in Nebraska and Montana.

The Section 18 expired today in Nebraska and will expire Sept. 15 in Montana.

Aphistar, a common name for triazamate, is a new chemistry. It is selective, not harmful to bees, predatory mites, non-target insects, and other beneficial arthropods.

It translocates both upward and downward in the treated crop. This enables growers to make foliar applications.
